Russian and Indian Artists Tonight at the final evening at Phillips de Pury

Phillips tonight evening sale open with a benefit auction for the New Museum, which opens to the public on December 1st. in its new location on the Bowery near a big Wholefood store.
To entice buyers, there was no premium or state tax included in the purchase price.
Yesterday Red Panel above, now with Regia's Drawing, was one of 48 works available. The fiberglass and video sculpture sold for $58,000.
The main evening sale is estimated to bring in $33 to $47 million, a fraction of what Christie’s and Sotheby’s sold this week at their contemporary sales. But the Phillips sale features work by a larger and more diverse set, including seven Chinese contemporary artists. Phillips will offer 82 lots, which for the first time include works by Russian and Indian artists.
